Genders & Sexualities Alliance Network (GSA Network), a national organization that supports trans and queer youth to unite for racial and gender justice, has launched GSA Network Midwest to build the GSA youth movement in the Midwestern United States.
“Youth in the Midwest have historically played an important role in advocating for racial justice and equity,” said Frank Chestnut, GSA Network Midwest Regional Organizer. “LGBTQ+ organizations in the region are effectively advocating for equality and we are eager to collaborate with them to bring an intersectional lens to address the issues that most impact the lives of trans and queer youth of color in particular.”
Chestnut is an experienced organizer with experience with education, youth leadership and public health in the Chicago area.
GSA Network Midwest, which will operate out of the Chicago-based office of the Illinois Safe Schools Coalition, represents GSA Network’s second regional organizing office dedicated to carrying out our national work following the launch of GSA Network Southeast in New Orleans in 2014. GSA Network of California operates three field offices in Oakland, Fresno, and Los Angeles.
