Youth Freedom Fund Request for Proposals (RFP)

Your GSA is making a real difference, creating a safe and supportive space for trans and queer youth at your school. We see the impact you’re having, and we want to help you keep it going strong. That’s why we’re excited to announce the second year of our Youth Freedom Fund! This fund is here to give GSAs like yours the resources needed to make great things happen. Whether you’re planning an event, starting a project, organizing a campaign, or keeping your club going, we’re here to support.

We look forward to receiving your inspired and community-driven proposals. Together, let’s devise a world where TQ2S+ young people thrive with dignity, self-determination, and delight.

How to Apply

This application should be filled out by the GSA club President, Vice President, or Adult Advisor. To be eligible, your GSA needs to be active and registered for the current school year (2024-2025).

Your project should include most of your club members, and the contact information you provide should match what’s already on file for your GSA registration. If your GSA isn’t registered yet, make sure to do that before you start the application.

Reminder: Check the eligibility checklist before you submit!

If the application is submitted by the GSA club President or Vice President, they’ll need support from your Adult Advisor or a school administrator. The project should be youth-led, but a school representative needs to review and approve it before you send it in.

We’re accepting applications on a rolling basis, with the first round open from August 28th to September 6th.

Ready to apply? Use the form below to tell us about your school, your GSA, and your plans. If you have any questions, feel free to email us at development@gsanetwork.org.

Applications should be submitted by a GSA Club President, Vice President, or Adult Advisor.
Clubs are welcome to apply for the Youth Freedom Fund whether they have received an award in the past.
Note: This application should only be submitted if the project, event, or campaign you intend to fund through this grant was reviewed and approved by your advisor.
This helps us evaluate your application more thoroughly and understand the full scope of support within your community. Additionally, hearing directly from student leaders allows us to prioritize youth voices in our decision-making process.
Examples might include, but are not limited to, tabling for awareness days, taking field trips or inviting guest speakers, or maintaining a social/support space for trans and queer students.
We ask about the level of support from your school and local community to understand the environment your GSA club operates in. This helps us better tailor our support and advocate for resources that strengthen your efforts and create a more inclusive space for all students.
Examples might include creating a more supportive campus, promoting an inclusive curriculum, or providing a safe space for LGBTQ students.
