This year’s GSA Day for Racial Justice centers Point 8 of the Nine-Point Platform: “We Call for Land Justice and Environmental Justice.” We’re spotlighting the inseparable connection between racial justice and our planet because the exploitation of land, water, and air doesn’t happen in a vacuum. It’s rooted in white supremacy and colonization, disproportionately harming Black, Indigenous, and communities of color. Our collective liberation requires healing our relationship with the Earth and dismantling the extractive systems that poison both our environment and our futures.
We Will Explore:
Inheriting Resistance, Building Renewal
Our ancestors equipped us with everything we need: resistance, righteous anger, creativity, and care. These tools empower us to confront environmental destruction and reclaim sovereignty over our lands and lives. This assembly honors their legacies while calling on today’s youth to envision—and build—a world where both Earth and our communities flourish.
Centering BIPOC Trans and Queer Youth as Climate Leaders
Trans and queer youth of color aren’t waiting on the sidelines—they’re leading the charge for climate and land justice right now. We’ll uplift their stories, strategies, and grassroots actions, from community gardens to abolitionist climate organizing to landback initiatives.
From Study to Strategy to Action
This assembly challenges GSAs and youth organizations to move beyond conversation into community-driven change. Launch local projects. Build mutual aid networks that counter oppressive systems. Create sustainable political homes rooted in love, autonomy, and collective care.
Intergenerational Healing and Vision
Through dialogue between elders and youth, ritual, storytelling, and art, we’ll remember that liberation means restoring balance: to the Earth, to each other, and to ourselves.
