Youth Freedom Fund

Your GSA is making a real difference, creating a safe and supportive space for trans, queer, and Two-Spirit (TQ2S+) youth at your school. We see the impact you’re having, and we want to help you keep it going strong. That’s why we created the Youth Freedom Fund! This fund is here to give GSAs like yours the resources needed to make great things happen. Whether you’re planning an event, starting a project, organizing a campaign, or keeping your club going, we’re here to support.

The Youth Freedom Fund was started in September 2023 with one goal in mind: give GSA Clubs the financial resources they need to succeed. Since its inception, the Youth Freedom Fund has funded nearly 60 GSAs from 25 states.

Past projects funded include:

  • A LGBTQ district-wide prom 🏳️‍🌈
  • A Lavender Graduation ceremony for graduating seniors in their GSA 🎓
  • A bookclub focused on uplifting queer literature amidst book bans 📚

How to Apply

Before applying, please click here to review the full request for proposals (RFP) and eligibility checklist to confirm your GSAs eligibility!

This application should be filled out by the GSA club President, Vice President, or Adult Advisor. Your GSA needs to be active and registered for the current school year (2025-2026). If your GSA isn’t registered yet, make sure to do that before you start the application.

If the application is submitted by the GSA club President or Vice President, they’ll need support from your Adult Advisor or a school administrator. The project should be youth-led and include most of your club members. A school representative should review and approve your application before you send it in.

We look forward to receiving your inspired and community-driven proposals. Together, let’s devise a world where TQ2S+ young people thrive with dignity, self-determination, and delight!

Examples might include, but are not limited to, tabling for awareness days, taking field trips or inviting guest speakers, or maintaining a social/support space for trans and queer students.
We ask about the level of support from your school and local community to understand the environment your GSA club operates in. This helps us better tailor our support and advocate for resources that strengthen your efforts and create a more inclusive space for all students.
Examples might include creating a more supportive campus, promoting an inclusive curriculum, or providing a safe space for LGBTQ students.
