It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved alumni, Carmen Gonzalez, a visionary leader, organizer, and friend to so many in the GSA Network community.
Carmen’s commitment to building a world where Trans, Queer, and Two-Spirit youth could live and lead with pride was unwavering. As a youth leader in GSA Network, Carmen played a key role in organizing campaigns, uplifting marginalized voices, and creating safe, affirming spaces for countless young people across California.
Their leadership was not just about strategy or mobilization; it was rooted in love, compassion, and an unshakable belief in the power of youth to transform our communities. Carmen inspired peers, mentored younger leaders, and left a legacy of courage that will continue to ripple through the movement.
We will remember Carmen for their brilliance, their laughter, and the way they made everyone feel seen and valued. Their light will continue to guide us as we carry forward the work they so passionately championed.
