Calling all trans and queer youth in Northern California: Your power is on the rise and we want to help you take it to the next level! You’re invited to the Youth Empowerment Summit (YES!) on December 7th in San Francisco. This youth-led event is a chance to connect with hundreds of LGBTQ+ students and allies who are determined to create change in their schools and communities.

The schedule is already jam-packed with incredible speakers and activities.

We’re pleased to announce that this year’s keynote address will be delivered by Gavin Grimm, the trans activist who gained national attention for successfully suing the Gloucester Virginia County School Board over its discriminatory bathroom policy.

Get ready to participate in fun, informative workshops throughout the day—including but not limited to:

  • How to Have a Kick Ass GSA — Northern CA Youth Council
  • Hanging Out or Hooking Up: Navigating Relationships, Consent, and Safer Sex — Planned Parenthood Northern California
  • Money Can’t Buy You Queer: Queerness vs. Capitalism — Autonomous University of Political Education
  • Art for Activism: Zine-making, History and Culture — Kirby GSA
  • Intersex 101: How to Start Your Intersex Advocacy — interACT

There will also be a resource fair featuring community organizations from all over Northern California.

YES! is free and open to youth ages 18 and under. Register here and get ready to build community, learn new organizing and leadership skills, and brainstorm ideas to make your schools and communities more inclusive.

Every day, LGBTQ+ young people boldly share their stories and organize campaigns to advance racial and gender justice—challenging everything from school policing to discriminatory dress codes. Join us at YES! to build on and celebrate that power.
