Celebrate what we've done this year! All of Gay-Straight Alliance Network's youth trainers, advisors, GSA members, national partners, staff, donors, and allies have had a tremendous impact across the country in 2012 -- and we want you to take a moment to celebrate some highlights from the year:

[1]We're particularly proud of our donors, who held fabulous events [2] and supported us to make all of these accomplishments possible. It's incredible to realize that youth, no matter where they are, have allies who are rooting for them all over the country. Just look at the map above, and the diverse states where supporters are committing to LGBT youth.

  • 880 GSA clubs in California, and 37 statewide organizations working with GSAs across the country
  • Action camps to stop the school-to-prison pipeline [3] in 4 different states, and a groundbreaking report showing the link between harsh discipline and LGBT student push out
  • A California statewide audit to ensure schools comply with anti-bullying laws [4] for LGBT youth
  • A law to reduce over-reliance on suspension and expulsion [5] that push LGBT students out of school
  • Testifying before state [6]and national legislatures [7] and advocating directly [8] with officials, including U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan [9]
  • Joining with Senator Al Franken of Minnesota to support the federal Student Non-Discrimination Act [10]on National GSA Day
  • The first-ever Southeastern Activist Camp, held in Little Rock, Arkansas
  • The FAIR/unFAIR campaign [11], organizing students to implement the FAIR Education Act and rate their schools on compliance, and original research [12] to show the importance of LGBTQ-inclusive lessons
  • Fighting for comprehensive sex ed for all students [13] through a court case in the Central Valley
  • A groundbreaking report [14] on punitive school discipline and its impact on LGBT youth
  • Prestigious Irvine Leadership Award [15] recognizing Executive Director Carolyn Laub for GSA Network's innovative solution in organizing young people to fight homophobia and transphobia
