Monroe Yeung is a History student at the University of California, Los Angeles. She is a JusticeCorps Member at the Van Nuys Superior Court, helping self-represented litigants navigate in pro per with civil and housing cases. Previously, she worked as a Legislative Intern at the U.S. House of Representatives. At school, Monroe serves as a Justice on the Judicial Board. She is also writing an honors thesis on transgender resistance in the carceral state.
A transgender daughter of a janitor, her aspiration is to one day serve her Oakland community as a Deputy Public Defender and Superior Court Judge in the same county courthouse her father cleaned for sixteen years.
