GSA Advocacy & Youth Leadership Academy (GAYLA) 2016

Thank you for applying to be part of the Gay-Straight Alliance Network's 2016 GAYLA (GSA Advocacy & Youth Leadership Academy). GAYLA participants will gain valuable leadership experience through a full day of training and advocacy activities to enhance their understanding on how legislation and policy affect our daily lives.

GAYLA 2016 will take place throughout the state during the month of April:

-Central Valley Advocacy Training will be in conjunction with the ENS Conference on Saturday, April 23 2016

Requirements:

  1. A young person between the ages 14-18 
  2. Committed to creating statewide and local change for LGBTQ youth and fighting homophobia and transphobia in schools and communities, specifically with a focus on advocacy, policy change, school climate and racial justice.

Participants are expected to:

  1. Commit to participate in the full day of training. 
  2. Make a commitment to participate in follow-up advocacy activities and put in practice what they learn at their regional Advocacy Training Day
  3. Identify needs of LGBTQ youth in your schools and community and guide the direction of the GSA Network Advocacy Campaigns and trainings.
